President Donald Trump on Wednesday appointed Robert O’Brien, a State Department officer who’s specialized in hostage difficulties, as his new national security advisor.
“I’m thrilled to announce that I will title Robert C. O’Brien, now serving as the very successful Special Presidential Envoy for Hostage Affairs in the State Department, since our new National Security Advisor,” Trump tweeted. “I’ve worked hard with Robert. He’ll do a fantastic job!”
O’Brien will replace John Bolton, whom Trump declared a week after a series of disagreements.
