Trump tweets brand new Space Force emblem. ‘Star Trek’ fans believe it seems familiar

President Donald Trump on Friday went where one series has gone.

Trump unveiled the logo for its U.S. Space Force on Twitter, where consumers were quick to point out its similarities to the emblem for the literary Starfleet, by the renowned TV franchise”Star Trek.”

“After consultation with our Good Army Leaders, designers, as well as many others, I’m very happy to present the brand new logo for your United States Space Force, the Sixth Branch of our Gorgeous Army!” Trump tweeted.

The Star Trek Starfleet Command seal also comes with a celestial arrowhead wrapped using a shooting star.

“Ahem.

But, John Noonan, an aide to Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., pointed out that the longstanding emblem for the U.S. Space Controller — a branch of the U.S. Air Force which will now function under Space Force — also has a great deal in common with all the Starfleet medallion.

, the spot on the left has been the present Air Force Command emblem. The same one I wore as a Lieutenant in 2005,” he tweeted, imagining that it was a long-running joke which the bureau had replicated the favorite series.

Trump initially floated the notion of producing a Space Force in March 2018, stating he initially developed the title for a joke.

“I said,’Perhaps we need a fresh drive, we will call it the Space Force,’ and I wasn’t quite serious,” he explained at a speech to support members in the Marine Corps Air Station Miramar in California at the moment. “Then I said, ‘What a fantastic idea, perhaps we will need to do this.'”

After that year, in August, Vice President Mike Pence declared details for the Space Force as a planned new branch of this U.S. army — accountable for protecting national security in outer space.

The Department of Defense published a 15-page report from 2018 stating that the Pentagon would”usher in a new era of space engineering” to be able” to deter and if required degrade, deny, disrupt, destroy, and control adversary capacities to safeguard U.S. interests, resources, and lifestyle.”

Trump, once he signed up the 2020 National Defense Authorization Act into law last year, made Space Force official since the sixth division of the army, working inside the Air Force.
