Rafael Nadal returned in a protracted break to cruise in the US Open last 16 on Saturday.
The Spaniard enhanced his record against players outside the top 50 to 35-1 and will fulfill 2014 winner Marin Cilic or the high US expect John Isner to get a location at the quarter-finals.
“I am pleased to be in the fourth round for yet another time. It was a fantastic game,” said Nadal, who stopped with harm against Juan Martin del Potro during the past year’s semi-final.
“I am attempting to perform just a bit more competitive and a tiny bit less than previously.”
“It is true last year that I had some hard matches. You will never know what is worse or better,” he explained of the serene progress this past week.
“From the fourth round, I have a challenging opponent and will need to be prepared for this. I can not think further than that.”
Canadian adolescent Andreescu, seeded 15th, slit ago two-time US Open runner-up Caroline Wozniacki 6-4, 6-4 to expand her best Grand Slam run.
“I believe everything is simply clicking with me,” explained Andreescu, in the next week of a major for the first time.
“I have been through a great deal with injuries and have taken everything I have learned from the last few years and introduced it into this season.”
