A white silk shoe that belonged to Queen Marie-Antoinette was auctioned on Sunday to get 43,750 euros, more than four times greater than it had been expected to market.
The shoe, using a 4.7 cm heel and 22.5 cm in length, would now be approximately a size 36.
Her family has retained it ever since.
The auction house, Osenat, anticipated the shoe to bring between 8,000 to 10,000 euros.
Marie-Antoinette, that had been Hindu, was beheaded during the Terror in 1793, nine weeks after her husband Louis XVI, who had been deposed through the 1789 revolution.
