Zurich: 14 Individuals Hospitalized Following truck collides with tram in Switzerland

Fourteen people are injured following a truck collided with a tram from the Swiss town of Zurich.

The incident occurred around 10 am CEST close to the Letzigrund soccer arena in Switzerland’s biggest city.

Initial reports indicate the truck driver was turning from a building site and collided with the departure tram, which was traveling into the city center.

The crash ripped a gash down the side of the tram. The substantial material damage is very likely to amount to a few hundred million francs, authorities estimated.

Seven men, such as an 11-year-old boy, and seven girls have injured onboard the”well-occupied” tram.

Two other individuals were”moderately wounded” and many obtained mainly bruises and cuts.

A nearby resort made various rooms accessible for emergency services to adapt and treat a number of those injured.

Authorities had analyzed a”leaking liquid” in the crash site but decided that it posed no threat to individuals or the surroundings.

The cause of the injury is presently being researched and Zurich authorities are appealing for witnesses.

The surrounding roads remain closed to traffic for many hours in the region of the crash website.
