Astronauts Parmitano and Morgan Run spacewalk to Correct cosmic ray detector

Astronauts Luca Parmitano and Andrew Morgan are running their third spacewalk on Monday at a series meant to repair the aging Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer (AMS).

Parmitano, by the European Space Agency (ESA) and Morgan, from NASA, will deliver the newest AMS cooling system from the airlock and set up it.

Lead engineer Zhan Zhang will operate in tandem with all the astronauts to power off the system and then on again after it’s installed by Parmitano.

AMS is a unique cosmic ray sensor, the sole magnet in distance, taking information on the International Space Station because of 2011.

CERN is dwelled with comment during the important phases of this spacewalk and scientists are available to answer inquiries from the general public.
