Belarus protests: Lukashenko calls for Russian Assistance as international pressure mounts

Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko has rebuffed requirements to get a new election despite 8 days of historical protests and calls for a general attack.

Exiled opposition candidate Sviatlana Tskihanouskaya says she is prepared to step in as a caretaker president until new elections could be held. However, Lukashenko says that he will not give in to pressure, and it has called on Russia for assistance.

She states Russian assistance for Lukashenko will just go up to now.
