Cannabis smuggling granny, 82, flees into Australia as Romania’s oldest Catalyst

Grandmother Elena Mladin has the dubious honor of becoming the oldest man to be recorded on the Romanian Police desired list following her attempt to inject drugs into prison had been thwarted.

In 2014, the octogenarian attempted to conceal cannabis within cabbage rolls, according to researchers. The rolls were destined for the nephew who had been serving time for driving with no permit. The cabbage roll casserole never attained the young man since the bundle had been intercepted by prison guards.

The criminal investigation opened in the time demonstrated that the older woman had more medication at her property. A police hunt found near two kilos of cannabis full of a metal stove found in the kitchen.

Throughout the analysis, Elena Mladin had been subpoenaed on several occasions but failed to attend court.

After an appeal that the sentence has been reduced to 2 decades, asserting that the defendant is at her older age and that she’s been previously convicted of additional criminal acts.

It’s not clear just who left the appeal but the appeal process in Romania could be created by numerous parties, not just the attorney.

Extradition?

Extradition from Australia into Romania is subject to an 1894 inherited bilateral arrangement from preceding UK adherence. Additionally, Australia will have to participate in its legal procedure in the event the demand for extradition is supported.
