Coronavirus: Cancelled flights Repay refusals slammed as’completely unacceptable’

Among those co-authors of the EU’s laws on passenger rights claims the failure to give ticket prices for flights canceled amid the COVID-19 pandemic is”entirely unacceptable”.

Former MEP Mark Watts is the founder of UK Transport in Europe. He helped write the laws which need airlines to provide refunds within seven days.

“I am very worried because what this is is an effort to produce the passengers cover the bailout,” Watts told Euronews Tonight.

“It is completely unacceptable. This is the passengers’ cash that they have put to a ticket for a trip that didn’t occur.

“They’re entitled to their money back, there should be no discussion.

“Actions needs to be taken to rescue airlines and I believe member countries of the EU need to step up the plate and intervene directly and they need to be bold and courageous enough to do this however they should not create taxpayers given up their hard-earned savings to bail out the airlines,” he explained.
