Iowa’s presidential caucuses have been expected to draw record turnout Monday, but historical data in the NBC News entry survey reveal a major dip in participants attending a Democratic caucus for the first time.
The entry survey showed nearly a third of respondents — 35 percent — caucusing this season are first-timers, a lesser degree than in 2016 when first-timers made up 44 percent of the Hawkeye State’s Democratic caucusgoers.
And that year’s degree of participants is well shy of this in 2008 if a whopping 57 percent of Democrats said they had never caucused before.
