Rising tennis star Sumit Nagal has stated that his US Open first-round game against Swiss excellent Roger Federer has helped him to identify places he wants to improve upon. The 21-year-old out of Haryana also stated that clay had been his favorite surface.
“Once I must know that Federer must perform a qualifier in the first round,
” I told my trainer I need to qualify and confront him,” Nagal told IANS.
“Following the qualifiers acquired over, I had been getting my massage once when my trainer said that I’m facing Federer. I was pleased. We had two weeks away and that I could not sleep due to the excitement. I didn’t make any modifications to my training program; however,” that the Haryana lad said.
Naval stated he managed to acquire the first set for his function and some fantastic play in the bottom line, but Federer made the required alterations then and won the game.
“It does not matter that I won a pair, what matters is that won the game. At the first place, I had been serving well and gaining a lot of points from the baseline. He discovered this and began placing some strain on me at the next group.
Nagal also stated that clay has been his favorite surface, something which Federer himself had pointed out following the game. “I think his game relies on being very consistent, amoving nicely, moving the ball around nicely. Much a clay-courter. That is, also, the surface he has essentially played the whole year nearly,” Federer had stated.
Nagal couldn’t talk to Federer following the game as both players needed to give interviews. When asked how he assessed where he stood following the game, Nagal confessed he desired improvement in all sections of the game.
“You want to be quite fit to perform five-set matches. I’ve always been working on my fitness, and I need to do far more. It takes some time,” he explained. “Tennis will be an extremely costly sport. You have to go to lots of different areas.
