Four people are hurt in an earthquake of uncommon intensity in France, that has been felt from Lyon to Montpellier.
The quake, that did not result in any significant damage, was size 5.4 and struck just before noon from the Ardèche area, at the southeast of the nation, the French Central Seismological Office (BCSF) at Strasbourg said in a statement.
It had been felt mostly from the Drôme and Ardèche areas, especially around Montélimar where an individual was severely hurt by falling scaffolding.
Three other people were slightly hurt from the Ardèche” after having a panic attack”, the Drôme prefecture mentioned on Twitter.
Montelimar’s mayor, Franck Reynier, urged citizens to not overload the crisis services with forecasts, including: “We will keep you advised as we move along.” He’s been tweeting safety steps, and also reported a crack at a building, along with a fallen chimney.
‘Everything stinks me around’
“It lasted five moments, everything left around me, the furniture, the walls, like a plane had crashed 800 meters off or a major burst,” Kevin Coeur, that resides on the 4th floor of a structure at Montélimar, told AFP.
He explained that”everybody went outside on the road following the earthquake, people were quite scared, we believed, and hopefully it’ll stop shortly”.
A client’s dresser transferred and her dishes were broken”
Following the earthquake, the Vaucluse fire brigade received”roughly fifty calls, largely from municipalities situated in the north of the section, such as Bollène and Valréas”, a spokesman told AFP.
