Gary Rhodes, chef including TV personality, dead at 59

Gary Rhodes, the TV chef famous for his appearances as sponsor of MasterChef, has expired in Dubai.

Rhodes, who invested some time with Euronews in Dubai earlier this season, also hosted programs like Hell’s Kitchen and Rhodes Around Britain.

“Gary passed away last night, Tuesday 26 November, at age 59, together with his cherished wife Jennie by his side.

“The family would like to thank everybody for their support and request privacy in this period.”

Tributes poured on Twitter because his departure was announced on Wednesday.

Produced in 1960, Rhodes started his career in the Amsterdam Hilton before going to London’s Reform Club and then getting sous chef in the Michelin-starred Capital Hotel in Knightsbridge.

He won a ton of Michelin stars throughout his subsequent career, developing a reputation for revitalizing food. In 2007 he started his first restaurant in Dubai.
