Health employees took a stand against Belgium’s prime minister to the weekend, rather literally turning their backs in protest because she visited a hospital in Brussels.
Sophie Wilmes was coming in a convoy of cars, and clinical and medical staff lined the street leading to this Hospital Saint-Pierre, turning their back for her as she handed.
The government has faced criticism over its handling of this coronavirus pandemic, together with Belgium now reporting the greatest deaths per capita from any nation.
Over 9,000 people have died, in a state with a population of 11.5 million.
There also have been ongoing disagreements involving nurses and the authorities, with nurses demanding more recognition over the health care market.
