Game of Thrones celebrity Kit Harington stated at Monday’s 71st Emmys he dealt with all the backlash surrounding the last season of the hit HBO series by not seeing it. The question was introduced to the cast and creators of this series, following the show took home the day’s biggest award – Greatest Drama.
“I will take this one,” Harington stated, based on Deadline. “Controversy. I haven’t seen the series, so that is the way I coped with this controversy. I have not seen the last season, but I understand what it took to take it and it had been challenging, and everybody put their love and effort into it. Controversy for us we understood what we were doing was correct narrative-wise and we understood it was appropriate for the characters since we lived together for ten decades. Controversy for us didn’t affect us,” he explained.
Previously, many cast members like Lena Headey and Conleth Hill have voiced displeasure with specific plot points at the eighth and final season of this series, which has been received negatively by both critics and fans.
Co-showrunner Dan Weiss additional they can not control what the viewer feels about the finale but expect they come to enjoy it later on. “There is no way to tell just how matters will be perceived in 10, 20, even five decades. These items change so quickly. The landscape of tv changes so fast, it is changing as we are standing here at this time. It is so gratifying to have attained this many men and women. I expect people a bit too young to see today will develop to find out about it and observe it also,” he explained.
