Luis Enrique: Former Spain and Barcelona Supervisor’s daughter dies aged nine

Former Spain and Barcelona director Luis Enrique has paid tribute to his daughter after she died from bone cancer.

Enrique thanked hospital staff for their good care of his daughter, Xana, throughout her five-month disease.

Back in June, Enrique resigned as coach of the Spanish national team after less than a year accountable to be with his daughter.

“You are the star that guides our loved ones,” he explained.

“We’ll miss you very much, but we’ll remember you each day of our lives in the expectation that later on, we’ll meet again.”

The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) stated it”mourns the sad lack of small Xana” and it”needs to demonstrate our condolences to relatives and friends, linking us today to their pain.”

Barcelona, who Enrique directed to two La Liga titles and the 2015 Champions League and made 301 looks for as a participant, stated: “Our condolences and our sympathy for Luis Enrique and his family at this challenging moment.

Barca ahead, Lionel Messi gave his condolences, including: “We’re together with you, all of the strength of the planet.”

The information drew tributes from around Spain – including in the country’s prime minister and tennis player Rafael Nadal – and the broader sporting world.

Barcelona’s rivals Real Madrid stated they”combine the pain” of Enrique and his loved ones and”wish to communicate their deepest condolences to them in these tough times.”

Italian side Roma, yet another team Enrique handled, stated that they were”heartbroken to hear the information.”
