French President Emmanuel Macron says he will double the amount of his nation’s border forces, after the recent terror strikes in Nice and Vienna.
Speaking at a news conference in the border, he also called on European nations to produce reforms to the principles which govern the EU’s free movement Schengen region. He called for the introduction of successful border authorities on Europe’s shared outside frontier.
He explained that this was an essential reaction to the worldwide character of terrorist organizations, which organize globally through the web and social websites, but also by sending representatives across boundaries.
“Meaning Europe has to strengthen its reply,” he explained. “France can do this on its boundaries, by decreasing its forces. Europe should do it as well.”
