Manchester City defender Aymeric Laporte undergoes Surgery on knee

Laporte was in line to make his international debut with France this week following his unique form for its Premier League champions over the last year was rewarded with a first call-up by Didier Deschamps because of March 2017.

But he had been stretchered off in the first half of City’s 4-0 win over Brighton on Saturday following a struggle with the people’ Adam Webster.

“The operation, completed by Dr. Ramon Cugat at Barcelona, was powerful and a more sophisticated outlook will be offered in due course.”

If Laporte is absent for a prolonged period, he’ll be severely missed with center-back among the few places where City aren’t blessed with fantastic strength in depth.

They didn’t purchase a replacement for departed former captain Vincent Kompany at the summertime window along with midfielder Fernandinho needed to fill that place contrary to Brighton with John Stones also sidelined by accident.

But with City handed a favorable Champions League group stage draw alongside Shakhtar Donetsk, Dinamo Zagreb, and Atalanta rather than confronting’top six’ resistance in the Premier League again before early November, there’s hope Laporte will return to the company end of this year.

“After the successful conclusion of evenings operation, I’d love to say thanks to all your messages of support throughout the past couple of days. I feel loved and so grateful about it,” Laporte submitted on Instagram.

“I’m sad for being unable to combine the national team and also never to fulfill my fantasy of creating the introduction with Les Bleus.

“I want to thank the coach for being supportive. From today on we begin counting the days down to return to the pitch.”
