Nepal police register FIR against ex-Speaker up rape allegations

Nepal Police on Saturday registered a case against the former Parliament Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara, that has been accused of committing a woman team, according to a press report.

Police lodged an FIR after getting an official complaint from the girl, the Himalayan Times reported.

Authorities said it’s registered the case against the former Speaker under effort to rape and acts of violence.

In a video released by internet news portal site Hamro Kura, the girl claims she has understood Mahara for decades and that he’s behaved indecently together with her previously too.

The girl said Mahara seen her rented room on September 23 while she had been lonely.

The girl explained she tried to prevent Mahara, that had been in an inebriated condition, by entering her house but he didn’t listen.

She alleged Mahara forced himself on her when she attempted to stop him he mistreated her. From the movie, the girl exhibited blue marks on her body, saying that these were the areas Mahara struck.

But he continues to maintain his place as a member of the home of Representative.

The authorities said it will carry out further research and take crucial actions from Sunday onwards,” the report stated.

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has also formed a 3 member panel to track investigations into the alleged rape charge from Mahara.

NHRC has also written to the government concerned, requesting information about the police handling of this situation and some other initiative taken to the security of a journalist who broke the story in the press.
