New documents published by the US state department reveal”a very clear paper trail” involving the White House, the president’s attorney Rudi Giuliani and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo before the sudden recall of then US ambassador to Ukraine, Marie Yovanovitch.
The records, numbering 100 pages, were published late Friday from American Oversight, which calls itself a non-partisan, non-profit integrity watchdog and is the very best Freedom of Information Act litigator exploring the Trump government.
“It shows a very clear paper trail from Rudy Giuliani into the Oval Office to Secretary Pompeo to ease Giuliani’s smear campaign against a U.S. ambassador.
Yovanovitch was remembered in May amidst a”smear campaign” Giuliani had completed against her as she had been obstructing his attempts, in the direction of the president to force Ukraine to explore Trump’s political competitions, which is currently at the core of an impeachment inquiry against Trump.
Pompeo was accused of coming to her defense, despite concerns and appeals conveyed to him by a lot of folks, such as previous US ambassadors to Ukraine and the House Democratic leadership. Yovanovitch, a highly recognized career diplomat, was remembered in May.
One of the documents published was a March 28 email from Giuliani’s helper into a White House assistant to president considered the gatekeeper into the Oval Office, asking for a”great number” to get Pompeo. The White House helper got in contact with the state department to get a contact number.
Also among the documents was a program of 2 telephone calls involving Pompeo and Giuliani, but don’t state what had been discussed., a latter out of preceding six former US ambassadors into Pompeo whining about”uncorroborated allegations’ from Yovanovitch, and yet another letter from House Democratic leaders Eliot Engel and Steny Hoyer.
