Operations resume at Iraqi port, oil refinery Following protesters Depart – Resources

Operations declared in a port and an oil refinery in southern Iraq on Thursday after protesters abandoned both regions, port officials, safety and petroleum sources said.

Anti-government demonstrators had blocked streets at Umm Qasr commodities interface, stopping operations for at aleast a week, and ceased fuel tankers in the Nassiriya petroleum refinery on Wednesday, causing shortages in the south.

The sources said the protesters had left did not state exactly why or how.
