Police Leader at 1989 Hillsborough Tragedy cleared of manslaughter

The police chief in the 1989 Hillsborough football disaster was found not guilty of the manslaughter of 95 fans.

David Duckenfield was in charge of the scene in Sheffield, northern England, in an FA Cup semi-final game in Liverpool and Nottingham Forest.

The victims perished in an overcrowded, fenced-in enclosure.

Harrowing pictures of youthful lovers crushed against alloy fences, bodies lying around the pitch and audiences using wooden advertising hoardings as makeshift stretchers cautioned the country.
