Portugal is a step closer toward legalizing euthanasia

Portugal is 1 step closer to legalizing euthanasia.

On Thursday a discussion in parliament by lawmakers finished with the acceptance of five statements.

The Socialists’ invoice took the maximum amount of votes in favor, a total of 127.

The acceptance of these invoices opens the doorway to another phase — where a particular commission will talk about the last invoice which will be introduced to the President.

Amongst the demonstrators were agents of the Catholic Church and professional bodies representing the medical profession in addition to the Ethics Committee for Life Sciences.

In 2018 Parliament refused the legalization of euthanasia by just five votes.
