Syrian Authorities artillery pounds south Idlib – rescuers

BEIRUT (Reuters) — Allied troops shelled the southeast Idlib on Sunday, by rescuers and inhabitants from the rebel stronghold in which a ceasefire had stopped a ferocious army offensive two weeks ago.

Artillery fire-ravaged Maarat al-Numan city and neighboring villages in the south Idlib countryside within the previous two days, following warplanes struck there on Thursday. [nL5N2634OF]

Syria’s northwest corner, for example, Idlib area, is the final big chunk of land still in rebel hands after over eight decades of warfare.
