A Lithuanian tourist was murdered and his spouse was raped in an attack close to a favorite seaside town south of Rio de Janeiro, Brazilian authorities said Thursday. 1 suspect was detained.
Police said they discovered the body of Adam Zindul in his rented house, which his spouse told them that she was mistreated.
Police didn’t comment on a possible motive for the assault or offer other information.
By Brazilian TV news station Globo, Zindul along with his spouse had rented a home in a distant shore named Praia do Sono, which may simply be accessed by boat or road through the jungle.
Praia do Sono is 26 km (16 miles) out of Paraty, a scenic city with cobbled roads and colonial-style homes. It’s a favorite with tourists and inhabitants of Rio de Janeiro, a couple of hours drive away.
