The spouse of the 1960s tv”Tarzan” celebrity Ron Ely was stabbed to death in their California home from the couple’s son, that was then fatally shot by police in a confrontation outside the house, police said on Wednesday.
Sheriff’s deputies responding Tuesday night to reports about a family disturbance at the Hope Ranch suburb of Santa Barbara discovered that the actor’s spouse, Valerie Lundeen, 62, dead from multiple stab wounds within the house, sheriff’s office said in a statement.
Deputies instantly identified the supposed killer since the couple’s son, Cameron Ely, 30, whom they discovered on the property out after a short search.
The younger Ely introduced an unspecified danger to the deputies, causing them to open fire, the announcement said. He had been fatally wounded, but not one of the four deputies involved in the shooting has been hurt, according to the sheriff’s account.
The deputies were placed on paid administrative leave pending an investigation, ” it said.
The elder Ely, 81, explained from the sheriff’s accounts as handicapped, was also located in the house and taken to a local hospital for analysis. There was no immediate word on what might have precipitated the traumatic.
Ely is famous for playing the title role from the first prime-time TV”Tarzan” series, which ran from autumn 1966 until autumn 1969 – on NBC, then on CBS.
He had been the 14th screen celebrity to occupy the use of the jungle hero made by Edgar Rice Burroughs because”Tarzan of the Apes” was released as a silent film almost a half-century before.
Ely played the majority of his stunts, even though the famed Tarzan shout was filmed from a record of Johnny Weissmuller, the Olympic champion swimmer who starred as Tarzan at a dozen Hollywood movies throughout the 1930s and’40s.
